I’m Ollie, and I’m one of two graduate surveyors that joined the development team in 2017. My interests mostly revolve around sport, but I have always had a fondness for the built environment. I suppose it was no surprise that I decided to study city and regional planning at Cardiff University. I’ve been involved in many developments that include package deals, section 106 projects and of course, our independent schemes. This has played a key role in advancing my learning of development in affordable housing. I look forward to continuing my journey in housing and development.

I’ve decided to document the progress of some of our developments through the quick and easy medium of Twitter. #OlliesUpdates is a fun way for me to show our upcoming schemes and share with you what we do at Newydd.
My tweets have focused on a development of 15 affordable homes in the small hamlet of Twyn-yr-Odyn in the Vale of Glamorgan. Our contractor partner on this development is Hale Construction Ltd. and work began on site during spring of this year. They immediately hit their biggest issue to date… extremely rocky ground.
We can’t wait to welcome our tenants into their new homes. If all goes to plan, we should be finished up by spring 2019 (rock depending of course).
Another exciting development is Yr-Hen-Fuarth in Treforest, Rhondda Cynon Taff. This came to us as a package deal opportunity with the Jehu Group with whom we have delivered some brilliant schemes in the past. We’re hoping to offer these 44 new homes to our tenants by the summer of 2019. Here’s some cool drone footage of the construction site back in April.
There are several other developments scheduled for delivery soon, such as flats in Barry, houses in Cowbridge and a bungalow in Newtown. Watch these developments’ progress and upcoming projects with #OlliesUpdates on Twitter.
